Rashid Mason, a native of Camden, New Jersey, began his training at Halliday Dance School in Pennsauken, New Jersey. There he studied Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Tap. He was also a member of the Bodies and Motion Dance Company and has participated in several 6ABC Thanksgiving parades. Rashid attended Bethune-Cookman College (B.S.), Florida A&M University(M.S., Ed.S), and is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Psychology.

 

Rashid has been an instructor for Dance Sensations for five years, Camden P.A.L Summer Dance Program for the past nine years, and was named the Program Director in 2010. He was a cast member of the 2011 production of "For Colored Girls." at The Walt Whitman Center for Performing Arts and a featured dancer in the 2000 production of the “Prodigal Son” at Rutgers University. Rashid used his dance and instrumental talents as a proud member of the Bethune-Cookman College Marching Wildcats who have been featured in many ABC Walt Disney World Christmas Specials, the 20th Century Fox film “Drumline”, and NFL halftime shows. Rashid is also the dance choreographer for the Pennsauken High School Cheerleading Team.

 

He continues to choreograph dance routines for many local groups, activities, studios, and events. His choreography has been featured in Young Poppa’s “Pinky and the Brain” music video and has also placed at several dance competitions. With a passion for dance and care for children, Rashid enjoys motivating young dancers to be the best “DANCER” they can be.

 

He is extremely grateful to be a part of the Dare2Dance team as Teacher and Artistic Director. Rashid believes that there is a need for a reawakening of the Arts in our city and D2D is a great program to begin Bringing it Back to Camden!!!
